Rex: Steelers have formula to beat Patriots

The New York Jets were on a bye last weekend, and coach Rex Ryan has been focused on the task at hand – a meeting with the division-leading Buffalo Bills Sunday.

But Ryan had a little time to watch some football. While he could only watch his brother Rob get demolished for a half in the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Ryan did have a keen eye on the rival New England Patriots’ bout with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And he wasn’t disappointed with the result, as the Steelers ousted the Patriots, 25-17, thanks to dominating ball-control and stout defense.

“That was a great formula. I love it," Ryan told the media Monday. “Pittsburgh has the formula to beat New England. I’ll give them credit for it.”

The Steelers won the time-of-possession battle 39:22 to 20:48.

“I’d sign up for that one. I mean they did a great job,” Ryan said. “The offense kept the football forever. The defense really challenged New England. But it’s much easier said than done.”
