Pats go as Brady goes, good or bad (mostly good)

By Nick St. Denis

The New England Patriots are dependent on Tom Brady.

That's a good thing, because Brady is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL and an all-time great. It also means that with all of their eggs in the Brady basket, he better not have an off day.

The Patriots' only three losses came as a direct result from shortcomings of three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. New England (9-3) fell to the Buffalo Bills when Brady threw four interceptions. The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Patriots by tightening up on Brady's targets and sacking him five times. And the New York Giants handed the Patriots their last loss to date, intercepting Brady twice and recovering his only fumble of the game.

"There is nothing that correlates more to winning than turnovers," Brady told the media Wednesday. "It's hard to overcome, like the Buffalo game, we had four interceptions. It's hard to win those games. The Giants game, we had four turnovers. It's hard to win those games.

"I'd like to think if I didn't throw those interceptions, we'd be in a better position than we are right now."

Brady hasn't thrown an interception since the Giants game, which was five weeks ago. New England has gone 4-0 since. He threw 10 picks the first eight games, and the Patriots were 5-3 in that span.

"We're trying to make a concerted effort not to throw them," Brady said. "... It's been a huge point of emphasis of really the Giants game that we lost and we've done a better job of it. So, hopefully it continues on."

Brady has tossed 30 touchdowns to 10 picks this season and is nine scoring strikes away from 300 in his career.
