Philbin latest to interview for Dolphins' coaching job

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

When you're 15-1, first in the league in points per game and have amassed nearly 5,000 yards in the air, your offense is probably doing something right. That was Miami's thinking this week as the Dolphins brought in Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin to interview for their vacant head coach position.

This is reportedly the fourth applicant the Dolphins have interviewed, as they met with Bears special teams coach Dave Toub, former Titans coach Jeff Fisher and interim coach Todd Bowles this past week.

Philbin has been coaching at the professional level for nine years, all of them with the Packers. Before that, he coached for nearly 20 years at the college level, with positions at Iowa, Harvard, Northeastern, Ohio University and Allegheny College.

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said earlier in the week that “there is no designated timetable” for when the team will announce its decision, and according to the New York Daily News, Miami is interested in talking with Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
