Johnson's agent calls contract talks 'very productive'

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Take it for what it's worth, but Stevie Johnson's camp thinks things are headed in the right direction with the Bills.

Johnson, who is set to become a free agent in March if he doesn't come to a contract agreement with Buffalo, met with Bills management Friday at the NFL Combine.

Johnson's agent told the Associated Press in an email Friday that he was "very optimistic" after talking to the Bills.

The Bills have also not ruled out the possibility of using the franchise tag on Johnson despite some reports that Buffalo has taken that option out of consideration.

Johnson was the first Bills receiver to amass more than 1,000 yards in consecutive years (2010, 2011). Johnson caught seven touchdowns last year as Buffalo's No. 1 receiver.
