Dolphins offer tenders to Spitler, Devlin, Stanford

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

With eight total free agents eligible for tenders this offseason, the Miami Dolphins took care of a few Saturday before free agency officially kicks off on Tuesday.

According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, the team tendered offers to exclusive rights free agents quarterback Pat Devlin (photo: rgmcfadden, Flickr) and cornerback R.J. Stanford, as well as linebacker and restricted free agent Austin Spitler.

Spitler received a $1.3 million offer for 2013, which would more than double the special teamer’s salary from last season ($540,000). Devlin and Stanford received standard offers for their respective time in the league, which was $480,000 for Devlin (second year) and $630,000 for Stanford (fourth year).

The remaining free agents that didn’t receive offers were safety Jonathon Amaya, tackle Patrick Brown, tight end Jeron Mastrud, cornerback Bryan McCann and receiver Marlon Moore.

Of the three tenders offered, only Spitler has the option of signing with another team. Check out Volin’s piece (linked in second paragraph) for a more in-depth look at the ‘Fins current free agent situation.
