Martin, who inked a two-year deal, will fill the void left by backup defensive lineman Tony McDaniel. McDaniel signed with the Seattle Seahawks the same day.

"We spoke about it a little bit but I’m a defensive linemen and in the NFL you’re going to have to be interchangeable," Martin told reporters regarding his impending role on the team, via MiamiDolphins.com. "Whether you come from a 4-3, 3-4, but like I said my goal is to help the team win. That’s ultimately my role generally speaking and it is exciting.”

Martin is entering his fifth year in the league after tallying 19 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in 12 games last season.
