Get the Folk back here: Jets' kicker re-signs

BY NICK ST. DENIS

We're a little late to the party, but I couldn't pass up a shot at a pseudo swear-word headline.

Saturday, the New York Jets re-signed kicker Nick Folk, who spent his last three seasons with Gang Green before hitting free agency earlier this month. (photo: Marianne O'Leary, Flickr)

Folk wasn't spectacular in 2012, but he wasn't terrible. He recorded a 21-of-27 field goal make-rate, with his longest 3-pointer coming 54 yards out.

The seventh-year veteran had good hang time on his kickoffs last year, but four of every five of them were returned, which wasn't good enough.

I wrote last month that if Folk were to come back, he'd more than likely have to win the job in training camp like he did last year over Josh Brown. Mike Westhoff, who loves him some kicker and punter competitions, called it a career after 2012, but his protege in Ben Kotwica will pick up where Westhoff left off in that regard.
