Wallace reportedly all but a lock to go to Dolphins

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Mike Wallace wants to get paid and played. The Miami Dolphins have money to spare and are desperate for a playmaking wideout.

As free agency looms, reports are surfacing that the Dolphins are not only the frontrunners to land Wallace, but it's almost certain Miami brings in the soon-to-be former Pittsburgh Steeler. (photo: Doug Butchy, Flickr)

Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post is calling the move a "done deal." We'll proceed with caution moving forward, and that's not a knock on Volin, who is totally dialed in. It's just a general rule when observing this type of thing.

"Where there's smoke, there's fire" used to apply to the NFL news cycle, but with Tweet and Send-happy reporters trying to be first to break the story, erroneous reporting and speculation presented as fact has provided a lot of misleading fodder to be rehashed in games of telephone across the internet.

However, typically these things get overblown when one report comes out and everyone runs with it. In this case, multiple media outlets and reporters, from Adam Schefter to Peter King, are making their own calls.

We won't have to wait long to find out the truth.
