Wideout Brandon Gibson picks Dolphins over Jets

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Miami Dolphins are still at it.

After acquiring the services of former New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller Friday, the Dolphins announced the signing of ex-St. Louis Rams possession receiver Brandon Gibson. (photo: Jeffrey Beall, Flickr)

Gibson met with the Jets earlier in the week but left New York without a deal. Miami was his next and last visit.

“Coupled with the earlier addition today of Dustin Keller, we feel that we have added some very good pieces to our passing game," Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said, via MiamiDolphins.com.

A 2009 draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles, Gibson made 174 receptions for 2,090 yards and nine touchdowns in four years with St. Louis after being traded. He joins newly-acquired Mike Wallace and recently-re-signed Brian Hartline in what is materializing into a very formidable receiving corps.

The Jets addressed running back Friday in signing former Oakland Raider Mike Goodson, and they also added pieces on both lines.

With Santonio Holmes returning and youngsters Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill still on the roster, the Jets will probably look to bring back Braylon Edwards or another wideout of his caliber.
