AFC East team-by-team salary cap situation update

BY NICK ST. DENIS

According to the NFLPA's most recent public report of each team's respective cap situation, here's where the four AFC East teams stand as of Thursday evening:

Buffalo Bills
Current contracts: 50 | Previous year carryover: $9,817,628
Team cap: $118,986,886 | Cap room: $13,687,532

New York Jets
Current contracts: 49 | Previous year carryover: $3,400,000
Team cap: $113,962,266 | Cap room: $12,566,471

New England Patriots
Current contracts: 50 | Previous year carryover: $5,607,914
Team cap: $118,852,407 | Cap room: $10,299,937

Miami Dolphins
Current contacts: 51 | Previous year carryover: $5,380,246
Team cap: $119,959,660 | Cap room: $8,263,667

The Jaguars have the most cap space in the league with more than $27 million to spare, and the Washington Redskins have the least at just over half a million in room.

The Dolphins have done the most spending in the division but still have a little wiggle room, while the other teams have worked their release and restructuring magic to find themselves in respectable cap situations at this time.

However, the Jets and Bills have the most holes to fill, so there's a reason they are where they are.
