Dion Jordan looks forward to playing with Cam Wake

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Dion Jordan is slated to be Cameron Wake's best friend. Jordan will be Wake's.

When the Miami Dolphins traded up to No. 3 overall to take the Oregon pass rusher in Jordan, Wake finally got the opposite-side threat he's been lacking of late.

Opposing offenses have increasingly keyed in on the quarterback-hungry Wake, as the team didn't boast another pass-rushing threat worth the attention. With Jordan on the other side, however, teams will have to re-think their double-teams.

But expectations aside, Jordan is just looking forward to learning from Wake.

"I’m really familiar with him," Jordan said Thursday night, via MiamiDolphins.com. "He's probably one of the best in the game as far as pass rushing goes and to play with him and be in the same locker room with a guy like him, I can learn a lot.

"I feel like us two together, we can change up the tempo as far as pass rushing goes.”

Jordan started his collegiate career with his hand in the ground but was moved to an outside linebacker spot so he could work in space. He's already drawn comparisons to former Dolphins standout Jason Taylor.

“I do like the compliment. JT is a tremendous player, but obviously I feel like I want to come in and I want to make my own staple for the Miami Dolphins and the NFL," he said. "I’m going to do everything that I can to live up to everything. I’m just doing the little things that I need to do so I can be successful at that level.”

As Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald noted Thursday night, Jordan is less than half way through recovering from shoulder surgery, so he'll limp his way into training camp but is expected to be full-go by the end of summer break.
