Bills still can't elaborate on Mario's foot issue

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Mario Williams sat out of team drills Sunday and wasn't on the field at all Monday for the team's second training camp practice.

Sunday evening, Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone said Williams had a "sore foot" and would be evaluated by the team's medical staff. Late Monday afternoon, Marrone still didn't have an update.

“I probably again and I apologize if I miscommunicated it yesterday, but he’s going to be evaluated by our doctors so he’s off campus being evaluated and I have not heard anything or any report back,” Marrone said, via Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com.

According to Tim Graham of The Buffalo News, that was as much detail as Marrone could and would give on the status of his prized defensive end. Marrone gave no indication on when the team expected Williams back.

"Where he is or where he goes, I'm not going to talk about that," Marrone said.

As Graham notes, Williams battled soreness in his wrist early last year but wasn't placed on the injury report. While he didn't miss any games, he got surgery during the team's bye week after Buffalo was fined $20,000 for not disclosing the injury.

Williams tallied six sacks in a four-game span a little past the midway point of the 2012 season but was underwhelming otherwise after signing a $100 million contract.
