With negative MRI, Brady's knee day-to-day

BY SEAN DONOVAN

New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady went down holding his knee during practice, drawing a collective gasp from players, media and fans.

Turns out, Brady will be just fine.

According to the Boston Herald, an MRI revealed that the two-time league MVP suffered a knee sprain and will be listed as day-to-day. No further timetable was available.

Brady was injured when an offensive lineman was driven into him during 11-on-11 drills. He returned to the field briefly before heading back to the locker room with trainers.

Shortly after the initial news was reported, a fan video surfaced of the play, showing Brady falling then grabbing his leg. The incident elicited flashbacks of the 2008 season opener when Brady tore his ACL and MCL, ending his season.

There have been no reports of Brady's availability for Friday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Brady is expected to resume practicing soon as the veteran prepares for his 14th season in the NFL.
