Goodson's already-shortened season cut shorter

BY NICK ST. DENIS

New York Jets tailback Mike Goodson was unable to see the field until Week 5 due to a suspension. Before the conclusion of Week 6, Goodson's season was already over.

Goodson tweeted Monday that an MRI on his knee revealed a torn MCL and ACL, effectively putting an end to his first, and potentially last, campaign with Gang Green.

"Not [too] happy right now," Goodson wrote, "but everything happens for a reason."

Goodson was off to a good start to his stint with the Jets. He gained 61 yards on just seven carries in his first two games, averaging 7.3 yards a carry on four handoffs Sunday and going 10 yards on a reception before leaving the game late with the injury. He also had a 9-yard reception in Week 5.

Fortunately for the Jets, Bilal Powell is healthy and productive, and Chris Ivory has looked good since coming off an injury of his own.

However, Goodson brought an explosiveness neither player has, and his impact on Marty Mornhinweg's offense was projected to increase quickly as the season progressed.
