Rex ensures 'Snacks' won't be covering A.J. Green

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Rex Ryan considers Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green the best wideout in the AFC.

So when the New York Jets coach was asked Wednesday if the Jets will put their best cover cornerback, Antonio Cromartie, on Green when the teams meet Sunday, Ryan stated the obvious.

"Well, we’re not going to put Snacks on him," Ryan quipped.

'Snacks,' also known as Damon Harrison, is a 350-pound defensive tackle. It's good Ryan is savvy enough to not match him up with Green.

But jokes aside, Ryan clearly has a lot of respect for Green's game.

"What does the kid not have? He has size, speed, athleticism, route-running, great catching radius," Ryan said, via NewYorkJets.com. "Like I said, in my opinion, he’s probably the best receiver in the AFC.

"There’s some good receivers, but in my opinion, he’s probably the best."

Green got off to a hot start this year with nine catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns in Cincy's season-opener against the Chicago Bears. He had a four-game cool streak (by his standards) but has hauled in 12 receptions for 258 yards and two scores -- with a long of 82 yards -- over the last two games.

Cromartie, meanwhile, has struggled most of this season following a stellar 2012 campaign.
