Broncos sign former Patriots defensive back Cole

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Marquice Cole was signed and released by the New England Patriots four times in 2013.

Sunday, he'll get at least one more shot at playing in a Patriots game.

But this time around, he'll be on the opposing sideline. The Denver Broncos, who host the Patriots in the AFC Championship game Sunday, signed the veteran defensive back Tuesday.

Cole had been on and off the Patriots' roster the past two seasons, seeing action in 27 games in that span. He excelled in a nickel and dime cornerback position, as well as on special teams, in spot duty.

With the Broncos, he'll provide some intel on the team he's spent most of his time with over the past two years, though he'll also give Denver some depth support given its loss of cornerback Chris Harris to an ACL injury.

Where Cole fits in on the field is yet to be determined, and the Denver administration certainly isn't about to tip us off.

"It's a long list," Broncos coach John Fox said this week, via Broncos.com. "If I knew right now, I wouldn't say anyway."
