Colts, not Browns, have McDaniels' full attention

BY NICK ST. DENIS

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels spent part of his bye weekend meeting with the Cleveland Browns regarding their head coaching vacancy.

So naturally, McDaniels was asked about it when speaking to the New England media Monday.

McDaniels said he appreciates and understands the outside curiosity, but he insisted his focus remains on the Patriots' upcoming playoff bout with the Indianapolis Colts.

"I know that’s something that comes up each time this year for other coaches – the opportunities are certainly flattering if they come up," McDaniels said, via Patriots.com. "That being said, I’m going to try to keep my focus on the Colts and our preparation this week."

McDaniels' last and only head coaching gig was with the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010. He lasted a season and a half before getting fired, returning to the Patriots' staff within weeks.

"Like I’ve said in the past, I’m fortunate to have the job I have," McDaniels said. "I love being here. I love doing what I’m doing. Each opportunity that comes along is a little different. I’m going to leave it at that and continue to focus and put my attention and my effort into the Colts this week."
