Dolphins' weekend showdown for GM down to two?

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Miami Dolphins remain the only team in the NFL without a general manager, and they're reportedly set to interview finalists for the position this weekend.

As of Thursday evening, the battle for the job has been narrowed down to two.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Cleveland Browns assistant general manager Ray Farmer, who was considered to be one of said finalists, has pulled out of the race.

That leaves two.

The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley said via Twitter that he's "100 percent sure" Dolphins assistant Brian Gaine is one of the frontrunners for the job. In fact, insiders have told Beasley that Gaine is "by far the best choice of the remaining candidates."

The other finalist, according to the Herald's Armando Salguero, is Tennessee Titans executive Lake Dawson. Salguero stressed that Dawson's place in the race had and has nothing to do with where Farmer stood.

So as far as we know, Gaine and Dawson will duke it out for the job, assuming one of the two doesn't decide to withdraw and/or another name pops up.
