Ed Reed gets robbed for a decent chunk of change

BY NICK ST. DENIS

For whatever reason, New York Jets safety Ed Reed had $50,000 worth of cash in an unattended bag on the passenger seat of his car Wednesday.

And for whatever reason, someone else wanted it.

The future Hall-of-Fame defensive back was briefly inside a bank when someone smashed the passenger-side window of his car and made off with the bag, according to a Houston-area television station.

Reed apparently had just gotten the money out of another bank, and police told the TV station, Local 2, that they believe he was followed.

Maybe it was a Houston Texans fan who didn't think Reed earned his paycheck during his brief stint with the team at the beginning of the 2013 season. Reed was released by the Texans midseason and signed by the Jets.

He'll be a free agent in a few weeks.
