The Buffalo Bills have a busy weekend scheduled for early August.
The NFL announced Thursday that the Bills will face the New York Giants in the annual Hall of Fame game, which opens the league'a preseason schedule, Aug. 3 in Canton, Ohio. It will come a day after legendary Bills wide receiver Andre Reed is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Former defensive end Michael Strahan, who will also be inducted that Saturday, will be represented by his former team in the game, as well.
The Bills last participated in the glorified exhibition contest in 2009, which followed the induction of the team's owner Ralph Wilson. This year's appearance will be the team's fourth all-time.
"Being in Canton as a rookie while Mr. Wilson was being inducted into the Hall of Fame was an honor," Bills guard Eric Wood told Buffalobills.com. ". . . This year will be fun to be there in Canton while Andre Reed, a great player for the Bills and a guy I have become friends with, is inducted into the Hall of Fame."
The game will serve as an extra dress rehearsal for the Bills and will prompt an early start to training camp. Tickets to the game will go on sale at the end of March.
