Jets very concerned about recently-cut Goodson

As far as we know, no one in the New York Jets' building has heard from running back Mike Goodson in months.

Goodson's absence has ultimately resulted in him being cut by the team Wednesday, but it doesn't sound like his former co-workers will be completely turning the page on his tumultuous tenure with Gang Green.

They're still trying to figure out where he is.

"There's no question, it concerns me," Jets coach Ryan said Wednesday, via "I've tried to reach out to him but haven't been able to make contact with him."

The Jets took a flier last offseason in acquiring the troubled tailback, who is facing prison time for gun charges from a year ago and missed the first four games of 2013 to a drug-related suspension.

He played in just two games last fall before suffering a season-ending injury. Fast forward half a year, and he's nowhere to be found.

"For somebody who has just gone MIA -- nobody can get a hold of him and nobody knows where he is -- that takes it to a different level and it goes beyond football,"  receiver David Nelson said.

Guard Willie Colon said Goodson's unknown whereabouts is "scary," and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson referred to Goodson as "a guy who needs help."

With Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson and Bilal Powell manning the Jets' RB depth chart, Goodson won't be missed from a football standpoint. From a real life standpoint? That's another thing.

"At this point, nobody is talking about, 'Why isn't he here practicing?' I think the fear is that we haven't heard from him," Nelson said. "That's not a good sign, honestly."
