Bills are New York's most-Googled sports team

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" might blare through the corridors of Yankee Stadium after a win in the Bronx, but it's the Buffalo Bills making the most noise on the Empire State's Internet connections.

Based on Google search data pulled since 2012, the online ticket marketplace TicketCity came up with a map showing which sports team is the most searched in each state. The answers, via TicketCity.com, are surprising.

Buffalo took top honors in New York over the Bronx Bombers, Mets, Rangers, Sabres, Knicks, Nets and even the Jersey-housed Giants and Jets. In fact, the G-men and Gang Green were both locked out of their stadium's state, which was taken by the neighboring Philadelphia Eagles.

The Patriots nailed down two states, neither of which was their own, topping searches in both Maine and Rhode Island. The Boston Bruins came out on top in Massachusetts as well as in New Hampshire, the only hockey team to make the map.

The Dolphins were blanked down south by the Heat in Florida and the Braves in adjacent states.

Sixteen NFL teams made the map, the most of any sport. A football team was the top-searched team in 32 states, with teams like the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks making marks in their respective parts of the country.
