Patriots have battle brewing for last wideout spot

Kenbrell Thompkins and Josh Boyce both joined the New England Patriots in the same year. They may not leave in the same year.

The pair of now second-year wideouts--Boyce a former fourth-rounder and Thompkins an undrafted free agent--will be duking it out in training camp this summer for the final spot on the team's receiver depth chart, according to Boston.com's Erik Frenz.
"For now, Thompkins gets the nod as the No. 5 receiver because of his work at minicamp and OTAs; his experience in 2013 gives him a leg-up on Boyce and the rest of the competition," Frenz writes. "Boyce's special teams potential may make him a front-runner down the line."
