The tailspinning 1-5 New York Jets feared the worst for cornerback Dee Milliner and guard Brian Winters.
Their inklings were right.
Both starters were placed on injured reserve Monday, with Milliner suffering an Achilles injury and Winters a torn ACL, both early in Gang Green's loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday.
“It’s tough.” guard Willie Colon said of Winters, via NewYorkJets.com. “He’s like my little brother. Obviously, I’ve been through my injury-plagued seasons so I kind of know where his head’s at.”
Milliner's loss is yet another shot to a depleted secondary, though the second-year corner had been limited most of the season prior to the latest ailment.
“We just have to stay strong and take care of our bodies at the end of the day,” defensive back Antonio Allen said. “Guys have got to treat themselves. If you don’t treat those little wounds, they’re going to become big issues and we just have to prevent that from happening.”
