Dolphins lose CB Will Davis for season to knee injury

The Miami Dolphins won a crucial divisional matchup Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills. A day later, however, they're in a somewhat familiar predicament: down yet another player for the rest of the season.

Sophomore Will Davis had only one tackle in the 22-9 prime-time victory, a special teams play in the third quarter that wound up knocking him out of the game. Davis reportedly suffered a knee injury on the play, and the Dolphins subsequently placed the 24-year-old on the Injured Reserve list Friday.

The designation marks the third straight week the team has had to place a player on IR, and it's the 10th player they've lost this season.

Davis was a key contributor to the special teams squad, mainly working as a gunner on punt and kick coverages. He was also the prime reserve player in the team's defensive backfield, and his loss leaves the unit pretty porous at the moment.

There are currently only three healthy cornerbacks on the team's active roster -- Brent Grimes, Lowell Rose and Jamar Taylor -- while veteran Cortland Finnegan and Jimmy Wilson nurse ankle and hamstring injuries, respectively.
