Wilkerson, Jets look to 'return the favor' to Bills

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The New York Jets were embarrassed at home three and a half weeks ago in a 43-23 blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills.

It collectively stung the team from top to bottom. Fortunately for Gang Green, they haven't had to wait long for a potential payback game, but that retribution won't come easy via a trip to Western New York.

“Those guys came in our house and put a whoopin’ on us—and we know that," Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson told WFAN Tuesday, via NJ.com. "Everybody knows that. Of course, we got that on our minds. So we’d like to go up there and return the favor.

"That was not our style of football. Too many turnovers, a whole bunch of other things that caused us to lose the game.”

The six turnovers committed by Jets quarterbacks had plenty to do with it, as Geno Smith threw three picks before getting benched (presumably for the season), and the rusty Michael Vick tried to dig out of a big hole to no avail.

But with Vick now at the helm semi-permanently and having shaken off the rust, the Jets have cooled down the turnover machine a bit the past couple games and--get this--actually won a game in Week 10 over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The defense also didn't look half bad.

How that translates Sunday against the Bills remains to be seen. But the Jets, coming off a bye, certainly still have a bad taste in their mouths from the last meeting with their division foe. Meanwhile, the Bills are a bit sore themselves after dropping two games and probably out of playoff contention.
