Bills make defensive coordinator Thurman official

When the Buffalo Bills opted for Rex Ryan as their new head coach, it was expected he would bring along New York Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman to assume the same role in Western New York. And when the Bills let their defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz, walk, it was a done deal.

Now it's a done done deal, as the team announced Thursday Thurman has agreed to terms to continue working under Ryan, the Jets' former coach.

Thurman led Gang Green's defense the past two years and was a defensive backs coach before that. He's been Ryan's right-hand man for a dozen years and has helped Ryan coach some of the league's best defenses for more than a decade.
