With Smith out, Owusu stepping up for Jets' WR corps

Chris Owusu had his coming out party for the New York Jets in the team's final game last season, amassing 146 total yards and a touchdown in a 37-24 victory.

A dash of early-season Internet stardom, coupled with a boost up the depth chart due to Devin Smith's injury, has put the 25-year-old in a position to practice with Gang Green's No. 1 unit this summer.

So far, new head coach Todd Bowles likes what he sees.

"He's smart, he's steady, he's more deceptive (than you think), he's quicker than you think, he's always in the right place and he's young," Bowles said via ESPN.com. "He just needs a chance to play."

Those chances have continued this week, as Owusu has seen time against the Jets' top corners, including Darrelle Revis.
