Fact Check: Miami Dolphins at Washington Redskins


The Miami Dolphins' 2015 season commences with a road trip to the Washington Redskins.

Here's your Week 1 Fact Check for the cross-conference bout:

November 13, 2011: Dolphins win, 20-9. Miami running back Reggie Bush rushes for 47 yards and two scores. Dolphins Brandon Marshall has seven catches for 98 yards.

QB RYAN TANNEHILL is only quarterback in club history to pass for 3,000-plus yards in each of his first three NFL seasons. His 66.4 completion percentage in 2014 was the second-highest single-season mark in Dolphins annals (CHAD PENNINGTON, 67.4 percent in 2008).

RB LAMAR MILLER led the Dolphins with a career-high 1,099 rush yards on 216 attempts (5.1 average) with eight TD. He's one of two players in club history to rush for 1,000 or more yards and 8 or more touchdowns with a  5.0-plus-yard average in the same season (MERCURY MORRIS).

In 2014, WR JARVIS LANDRY set the team rookie record for catches (84) and the fourth-highest total of any player in Dolphins history, with 758 yards and 5 touchdowns.

WR MIKE WALLACE led the team with 10 touchdown catches in 2014 and needs three more to reach 50 career.

TE JORDAN CAMERON makes his Dolphins debut. He has five TD catches in his past six games versus NFC teams, including a career-high three vs. the Vikings in 2013.

DE CAMERON WAKE ranks second in franchise history with 63 career sacks (JASON TAYLOR, 131). He has five sacks in the team's past six road games.

Since joining the Dolphins in 2013, CB BRENT GRIMES leads all AFC cornerbacks with nine picks.

Redskins Notes
QB KIRK COUSINS makes his 10th career start and first on Kickoff Weekend. He has posted a 100-plus rating in four games (minimum of 20 attempts).

RB ALFRED MORRIS rushed for 1,074 yards in 2014, his third consecutive 1,000-yard rush season to start his career. Since entering the NFL in 2012, he is second in the league with 3,962 rush yards and 28 rush TDs.

Since 2013, WR PIERRE GARÇON has 181 catches, tied for second most in the NFC. He scored his first career touchdown (48 yards) vs. Miami in 2009.

WR-PR DE SEAN JACKSON had 1,169 receiving yards last year, his fourth 1,000-yard season. He had a 34-yard TD catch in only game versus the Dolphins in 2011.

Rookie G/T BRANDON SCHERFF was drafted No. 5 overall in 2015.

Since entering the NFL in 2011, LB RYAN KERRIGAN is one of three players with 35-plus sacks (38) and two or more interceptions for touchdowns (2). He had two sacks and two forced fumbles in his last game.

LB KEENAN ROBINSON led the team last year with 108 tackles.

CB DE ANGELO HALL ranks second among active players with 43 interceptions and 838 interception return yards.

LB PERRY RILEY, JR. has 330 tackles over the past three seasons, most by any Redskin in that span.
