Ebner injury could shake things up for Pats ST squad

Walkthroughs on a bye week are typically uneventful, particularly when it comes to the New England Patriots.

The sight of safety and special teamer Nate Ebner in a hard cast, however, certainly spiced things up on Thursday.

The 27-year-old, who's spent his entire career with New England, was spotted at practice with a large wrap on his right arm that extended all the way to his thumb, according to the Boston Herald.

There's been no word as to the cause, extent or possible duration of Ebner's injury, though it'll likely be tough to keep the former rugby player off the field Jan. 16, particularly since he's the team's third-leading tackler on special teams behind Matthew Slater and Brandon King.
