Dolphins complete trade for Maxwell and Alonso

Cornerback Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso are officially Miami Dolphins.

The former Philadelphia Eagles duo was on its way to Miami (at least figuratively) when reports surfaced Wednesday morning that the trade between the teams could be off due to an apparent medical clearance of Maxwell.

But Maxwell was ultimately good to go, and the team made it official later in the day. The Dolphins sent their No. 8 overall pick to Philly for its No 13, plus the two defenders.

It comes a day after Miami signed defensive end Mario Williams. Miami also announced Wednesday it has released cornerback Brent Grimes in an expected move.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald says the Dolphins need a defensive end and two cornerbacks.
