Jets revamped RB corps a commitment to versatility

Chris Ivory's gone, Bilal Powell's back, and the New York Jets' running back corps has a couple new faces after the first 48 hours of the new season.

Their philosophy, however, hasn't changed much.

Sticking with the ultimate goal of being versatile for Chan Gailey's offense, Gang Green added Khiry Robinson into the backfield mix Thursday. With the team's other big free-agent acquisition, Matt Forte (and the likely release of Stevan Ridley on the horizon), the Jets' trio of ball carriers seems to be set.

As Brian Costello of the New York Post points out, though:
"The one missing ingredient in this backfield seems to be speed. Powell has some, but is not a true outside runner that can run past a defense."
