Bills safety Wilson limited but takes practice field

By Nick St. Denis

Buffalo Bills safety George Wilson was limited in practice Wednesday, but he's just happy to be back on the field.

Wilson hasn't played in more than three weeks due to a neck injury and looks to return to action when the Bills (5-7) travel to San Diego to face the Chargers (5-7) Sunday.

"Just to have the opportunity to get back out there on the field for me personally is truly a blessing," Wilson told the media Wednesday. "I’m just happy that we took the proper amount of time to allow things to heel up and to be able to go out there and not have that mental block and that hesitancy."

Bills coach Chan Gailey wasn't optimistic about Wilson's return Monday, but Wednesday, Gailey was pleased with Wilson's progress.

"That’s really big," Gailey told the media. "The communication on the back end was very good while he was in there and we’ve taken a step back in our communication in the secondary with all the young guys, which is understandable."

Wilson recorded 79 tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble in the team's first nine games before being sidelined.
