A look at how Jets fit into AFC playoff picture

By Nick St. Denis

Looking at the playoff picture heading into Week 13, the New York Jets are still very much alive.

Only one of their final five regular-season opponents have a winning record in the New York Giants (6-5), however, the Washington Redskins (4-7),  Kansas City Chiefs (4-7), Philadelphia Eagles (4-8) and Miami Dolphins (3-8) are not pushovers.

The Jets (6-5) need to take care of business on their end, starting with what should be a tough road trip to Washington Sunday.

Outside of Jets games, rooting interest for the Gang Green faithful is pretty narrowed down at this point -- Jets fans should be rooting against the Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) and Denver Broncos (6-5), who both have tough finishing-stretches coming up.

The Bengals' remaining schedule is as follows: Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3), Houston Texans (8-3), St. Louis Rams (2-9), Arizona Cardinals (4-7) and Baltimore Ravens (8-3). Cincinnati is currently a game ahead of the Jets.

The Broncos' remaining schedule is as follows: Minnesota Vikings (2-9), Chicago Bears (7-4), New England Patriots (8-3), Buffalo Bills (5-6) and Kansas City Chiefs (4-7). The Broncos hold the head-to-head tiebreaker with New York.

With the Jets essentially in control of their own destiny, they just need to win. That's been the hard part so far.
