Patriots look forward to long-awaited 1 p.m. game

By Nick St. Denis

The New England Patriots have had just one 1 p.m. kickoff so far in the 2011 season, and they haven't yet had one at home.

New England (8-3) gets that rare chance Sunday when it hosts the Indianapolis Colts (0-11) for an early-afternoon showdown.

"It's kinda nice to get it over with and get out there and play, then go get a nice dinner afterwards and things like that," Patriots receiver Wes Welker told reporters Friday. "We're definitely looking forward to playing at one o' clock and hopefully playing well."

The Patriots have played three night games -- two consecutively in Weeks 10 and 11 -- and have played the late afternoon game every other week besides their Week 3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
