Offensive line paves way in Jets' win over Redskins

By Nick St. Denis

Shonn Greene's fantasy football owners finally got their big day. That is if they didn't have him on the bench.

Greene rushed for three touchdowns and 88 yards on 22 carries in the New York Jets' 34-19 victory over the Washington Redskins Sunday.

The third-year running back was able to gain clean yards on his upfield runs thanks to solid offensive line play, and the Jets' front unit didn't allow a sack all game against the league's third-best team at getting to the quarterback.

"I thought our offensive line was the difference in the game," Jets coach Rex Ryan told the media after the game. "We were able to protect the quarterback and open up some holes in the running game."

The Jets' offense got off to a slow start, as it found the end zone just once through the first three quarters. Greene rushed for the team's first touchdown and had two more in the fourth quarter.

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez hit Santonio Holmes for his lone touchdown pass of the game. Sanchez finished 19-of-32 for 165 yards and a touchdown.

"Two games in a row, just a phenomenal job," Sanchez said of his offensive line's play. "they're getting coached hard by (offensive line) coach (Bill) Callahan. He's not cutting them any slack in practice, and it's showing.

"So they've taken to the tough coaching, they've taken to the intricacies of our blocking schemes. ... I'm really proud of that group, they're doing a great job for us."
