Rex gives opinion on Jets' Pro Bowl selections

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Jets linebacker David Harris didn't make the Pro Bowl, and that apparently didn't sit well with Rex Ryan.

During his Wednesday presser, Ryan made an argument (a pretty good one) for why Harris deserved more than second alternate recognition on the AFC all-star roster.

"David Harris has five quarterback sacks, four interceptions, probably twice as many as any linebacker, I don’t know," Ryan said. "He’s a middle linebacker. He’s made more plays than anybody in this league."

Ryan, however, knows how to prevent another Harris Pro Bowl snub.

"All he has to do is play exactly how he played this year, but take a dance class this summer, do something, because I can’t believe our opponents, maybe we don’t play enough, didn’t vote for him to be in the Pro Bowl," Ryan said.

Ryan also touched on Brandon Moore's "selection" as a second alternate.

"...statistically, (Moore's) the only guard in the league that has not given up a sack or a hit on the quarterback — the only guard," he said. "... And I told him, 'It’s because you’re not very nice.' If he was nicer, maybe he’d get more votes."

Ryan went on to say that he was proud that cornerback Darrelle Revis made it as a starter, "because if he didn't, there shouldn't be a game."

"And then Nick Mangold and D’Brickashaw Ferguson, obviously both guys are deserving," Ryan said. "We’re play [Maurkice] Pouncey’s twin brother [Mike] and he must be really good if he can start over Nick Mangold. And I know he’s a great player, but I think Nick’s the best center in the league."
