The Jets owe linebacker Bart Scott more than $18 million over the next three years, and apparently they'd just assume someone else make the payments.

The New York Daily News reported Monday that Gang Green gave Scott permission to seek a trade, as the price the Jets are paying for the amount of snaps they're giving Scott isn't of the frugal variety.

Scott has seen a decrease in playing time each year since signing a $48 million contract with the Jets in 2009. He was part of the fraternity of defensive players Jets coach Rex Ryan brought to New York from Baltimore.

The 31-year-old most recently made headlines for receiving a $10,000 fine from his team for flipping off a photographer in the locker room following New York's season-ending loss to the Dolphins, and he's more known for his "Can't wait" speech in a postgame interview with ESPN.

Scott, who has been used less and less in passing downs, will likely remain with the Jets, as cutting him would cost the team too much.
