Former Dolphins CB Sean Smith headed to Chiefs

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Vontae Davis must be psychic.

Two and a half weeks ago, Davis tweeted that his friend and former teammate Sean Smith was talking to the Kansas City Chiefs before completely backtracking, as that would've represented tampering and an NFL no-no.

Well, Davis was right. He's a regular Adam Schefter. According to Smith's agent David Canter, who denied that Smith talked to the Chiefs at the time, announced Thursday that his client agreed to a three-year deal with Kansas City.

YahooSports.com reported the deal is worth $18 million with $11 guaranteed.

I wrote over a month ago how the Dolphins shouldn't miss Smith, at least not as much as he misses interceptions and guesses on routes.

Regardless, the Dolphins now have to name a new set of starting cornerbacks to the defense. They'll likely look to the draft and for a veteran on the free agent market to add competition to a squad that currently consists of Nolan Carroll, Richard Marshall, Dimitri Patterson and R.J. Stanford.
