Madden vote update: Marino, Gronkowski still alive

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Madden 25 Cover Vote, which has "Old School" and "New School" brackets working their way toward each other, is nearing the end of the third round, and only two AFC Easters remain in the hunt.

In the "Old School" bracket, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino is trying to outlast San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana for a berth in the quarterfinals.

On the other side, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is up against Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Gronkowski took out fellow AFC East star and New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis in the second round. In Round 1, Gronk bested Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown and Revis beat Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Marino made the third round by taking out Marshall Faulk and Reggie Wayne in Round 1 and 2, respectively. Montana took out Jerome Bettis in the second round, who ousted former New York Jets running back Curtis Martin in Round 1.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, ex-Patriots linebacker Teddy Bruschi, former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly and current bills running back C.J. Spiller didn't make it out of their respective matchups in the first round.
