Ross to talk to Marino, 'no idea' what job would be

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Dan Marino's tenure with CBS Sports' Sunday pregame show came to an end earlier this year, leaving the former Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame quarterback without a job (aside from his regular charity work, of course).

It may be his old employer that puts him back on the clock, albeit an a capacity yet to be determined.

According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said recently that he plans to talk to the 52-year-old Marino about a possible job within the team.

Elway, Marino voice support for fellow HOFer Kelly

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Dan Marino and John Elway have been in plenty of on-field battles with Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly, but in Kelly's current fight, the two fellow Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks are on his side.

Kelly expects to undergo surgery this week, as the oral cancer that he staved off last year has returned and is more aggressive this time around.

Marino and Elway took to Twitter Tuesday to voice their support for the 54-year-old Kelly.

Madden vote update: Marino, Gronkowski still alive

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Madden 25 Cover Vote, which has "Old School" and "New School" brackets working their way toward each other, is nearing the end of the third round, and only two AFC Easters remain in the hunt.

In the "Old School" bracket, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino is trying to outlast San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana for a berth in the quarterfinals.

On the other side, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is up against Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

EA releases Madden bracket, adds old-schoolers

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

EA Sports’ next Madden release will be an homage to 25 years of addictive football gaming, and maybe even to an old school great.

The company released the voting brackets for its cover on Monday, and fans will have the opportunity to decide whether they’d like to see a current star or a previous one on the game’s quarter-century anniversary edition, which will be entitled, “Madden 25.”

A current player from each team was selected for one side of the bracket, as was a retro star for the other.

Marino: Growing on the run part of deal for Tannehill

BY NICK ST. DENIS

In 1983, then-rookie quarterback Dan Marino started the season as the Miami Dolphins' backup signal-caller.

Now-rookie Ryan Tannehill won't be doing the same. But the Dolphins can only hope Tannhill's rookie campaign is even half as good as Marino's, which ended with his first of nine Pro Bowl berths.

Tannehill, who was originally a favorite to hold the clipboard for a year while either incumbent Matt Moore or trial-signing David Garrard took the reigns behind center, was named the Dolphins' starter two weeks ago.

“He’s (Tannehill) going to have to grow as much as he can on the run and that’s part of the deal," Marino told Dolphins.com's Andy Kent Tuesday. "I would tell him to have a short memory. You’re going to have some bad games so you have to keep it going and just turn it loose.”
