Dolphins swap out some wide receivers

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The top part of the Miami Dolphins' wide receiver depth chart is well-defined with Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson manning the top three spots.

After that, it's wide open.

Armon Binns was the favorite for the No. 4 job until he tore both his ACL and MCL at training camp and was lost for the season. To rejuvenate the positional competition, the Dolphins signed wideouts Keenan Davis and Julius Pruitt. In turn, Binns and fellow injured receiver Jasper Collins were waived.

Davis, an undrafted free agent out of Iowa, was signed by the Cleveland Browns after the 2013 draft but didn't make it to training camp. The former Hawkeye hauled in 97 receptions and five touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons.

Pruitt had spent the last few years on and off Miami's roster and has appeared in nine games since being picked up by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2009.
