T.J. on E.J.: He throws the ball far, I run fast

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Chemistry is easy to create when there isn't another team on the field to impede. It's also easy to create when a trait from one player matches that of another.

Buffalo Bills second-year wide receiver T.J. Graham feels the latter is the reason he and rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel have hit it off so far -- at least in his eyes.

“Well, he throws the ball far and I run fast,” Graham told BuffaloBills.com this week. ”So he just throws it as far as he can and I run underneath it. And that’s pretty good chemistry."

The speedy Graham was drafted by the Bills to be a threat on the perimeter, but he had playing time taken away from him last year because of mental errors and poor route-running. Graham worked all offseason to correct those things, though the Bills still brought in some young and hungry competition to battle with Graham for a job.

As for Manuel, the rookie has reportedly looked better than his competition, veteran Kevin Kolb, through the first part of camp. Graham will take either of them.

“It feels like we’ve been together for a long time,” Graham said. ”Going back to when we started voluntary mini-camps, (Kevin) Kolb has been around and we’ve been kind of just moving off of there. EJ came right in and didn’t skip a beat."
