Aqib Talib says Nick Mangold's hit wasn't dirty

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Well, this should settle it. Maybe.

A scuffle broke out between the New York Jets and New England Patriots last Thursday night after Jets center Nick Mangold attempted to knock Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib out of bounds following Talib's game-sealing interception.

Mangold dove at Talib and ended up rolling into Talib's ankles after Talib did a last-second spin move into the sideline.

Some Patriots players took exception to Mangold's attempt at a tackle, which prompted some Jets players to address New England's sideline.

But despite all of the hoopla resulting from the play, Talib said Mangold's hit wasn't dirty.

"He started to dive when I was in bounds and I kind of went out of bounds at the end of his dive," Talib told ESPN Wednesday. I didn't see it as dirty."

Jets linemen Willie Colon and D'Brickashaw Ferguson were ejected from the game after the post-play scrum, and the NFL is currently reviewing the conduct of both Jets and Patriots players. No suspensions will be handed out for the incident, but fines are in order.
