Karl Dunbar put on quite the performance in 2013, and now he's slated for an encore.
Dunbar, the New York Jets' defensive line coach, confirmed via Twitter Saturday that he has re-signed with Gang Green.
The 46-year-old assistant coach has helped turn the Jets' defensive front into arguably the NFL's best, getting elite production out of a unit that boasts three first-round picks in as many years. Dunbar has been with the Jets since 2012.
Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman, who served as the defensive backs coach during Rex Ryan's first four years as head coach but was promoted last year following Mike Pettine's departure, is also expected to re-up with New York, if he hasn't already, according to ESPN New York's Rich Cimini.
Re-acquiring Dunbar's services was a no-brainer, and Thurman's presence will provide some much-needed stability in the Jets' defense. This offseason, Thurman will be tasked with repairing a secondary -- or more specifically, a cornerbacks corps -- that is very much in flux after a major dip in production last year.
Running backs coach Anthony Lynn, offensive line coach Mike Devlin and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, whose contracts are expiring, are reportedly expected to return, as well.
