Patriots make Revis' ownership of No. 24 official

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Three years, three teams and one jersey number. Efficient stats.

All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, who signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots last month, officially won't have to stray from his beloved No. 24, as the team announced Tuesday that he'll be donning said digits in 2014.

The number news comes less than a week after the team released safety Adrian Wilson, who had the rights to the No. 24 jersey last year despite never playing a down.

Now, the team can start raking in the cash on jersey sales, all the while making New York Jets fans that much more sick to their respective stomachs.

His sporting No. 24 in a Pats jersey is also a tribute of sorts to former standout corner Ty Law, a "family friend" of Revis' who wore the number throughout his stellar career in New England, which was capped off with a short stint with the Jets.

"Ty’s always there in my corner to help me whether it’s football or life," Revis said in March, via ESPN Boston.
