Revis nursing March wrist surgery through OTAs

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is recovering from offseason wrist surgery, so he understandably is spending OTAs on the sideline. The surgery was done in March on his right wrist.

He'll be ready for Week 1, but according to NJ.com, it's unclear whether he'll be a go when training camp kicks off in late July.

Coach Todd Bowles couldn't say for sure, but added that "as long as he gets his conditioning in, he'll be fine."

He's not expected to get any work next month during minicamp.

Brady, Gronk among top 10 in 2015-16 player sales

The New England Patriots may not always open their wallets, but their fans certainly do.

The NFLPA released the top 50 player sales list for the 2015-16 season Monday, which is based on total sales of officially licensed merchandise. Three Pats players landed in the top 25, with Tom Brady snagging the top spot.

Rob Gronkowski was No. 8, while wideout Julian Edelman came in at No. 23.

Ryan Tannehill (No. 34) was the first non-Patriot from the division to make an appearance in the top 50, while a pair of Bills (Sammy Watkins, No. 47, and LeSean McCoy, No. 49) snuck in toward the bottom of the list.

Only one Jet — Darrelle Revis — made the cut, coming in at No. 45.

Check out the full list here.

Revis casted for 2-3 months following wrist surgery

New York Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis will be in a cast for two to three months, according to the New York Post, as a lingering wrist injury from last season was addressed Thursday.

The 30-year-old defensive back underwent surgery on a torn ligament at the Beth Israel Hand Surgery Center in Manhattan, but he will reportedly be ready for training camp this summer.

Revis' name didn't appear on the injury list at all last season.

Bowles says Revis is 'still working his way back'

The New York Jets are 2-0 without top cornerback Darrelle Revis. That doesn't mean they want to miss him for any more time.

Revis sustained a concussion against the Houston Texans on November 22 and has been off the field since. He was on the sideline against the New York Giants Sunday and has been progressing.

Monday, Jets coach Todd Bowles was asked about Revis' status for the team's upcoming bout with the Tennessee Titans.

"He comes in [to the Jets' training facility] and he does light workouts," coach Todd Bowles said, via NJ.com. "He's still working his way back. But he's feeling a lot better.

"It was encouraging that he was able to attend the game, and then move around a little better. We'll see how he feels later in the week."

OBJ on not facing Revis: 'It would have been fun'

Spoiler alert for those hoping to see a marquee matchup between Darrelle Revis and Odell Beckham, Jr. this weekend.

Following news Thursday that Revis once again did not practice, the likelihood of the Pro Bowl corner suiting up for Sunday's Met Life matchup went from a long shot to a near impossibility.

That wasn't what Big Blue's star wideout was hoping to hear.

"We've still got to play the Jets," Beckham said via ESPN.com. "It would have been fun to go against a guy like that, and it's unfortunate that he's not playing, but maybe we'll get that matchup down the road.

"We're still focused on playing the Jets. This is a game we need to win."

Loss of Revis/Browner impacts Patriots' offense, too

It could have been the quarterback... but it also could have been the cornerbacks.

New England Patriots receiver Brandon LaFell is coming off the best season of his career, something he partly attributes to the work he got in practice--against a pair of top-notch cornerbacks no longer with the team.

“You have to go out there against those guys and play to another level every day in practice,” LaFell said on Sirius XM NFL  radio last week, via ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss. “When it came to game time, you [practiced] against Revis, who I feel like is the best corner in the NFL, or a guy like Browner, who I feel like is the most physical in the NFL, [so] you pretty much can get open on anybody.”

LaFell said Revis and Browner were two of the best players he's faced in his career, and that both had a lot to offer on the practice field in terms of preparing wideouts.

Now that Revis is back with the New York Jets, LaFell will use practice preparing to face Revis rather than preparing with him.

Landry: Adaptation equals success for Darrelle Revis

He may only have one year of pro ball under his belt, but Jarvis Landry already has a strong respect for Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Landry, who faced the Pats only once last season, tallied nearly 100 yards on eight catches. He, like many other wideouts in 2014, however, struggled when covered by the veteran, hauling in only two catches for 18 yards.

“His game changes every game because he’s studying the receiver he’s going to face,” Landry said during NFL.com's Top 100 Players program (Revis finished 17th). “His ability to adapt to that is one of the reasons why he’s one of the best in the league.”

Revis held some of the league's top offensive weapons -- Calvin Johnson, Demarius Thomas, divisional rival Sammy Watkins and Jets newcomer Brandon Marshall, to name a few -- to only one touchdown during his team's Super Bowl run, while allowing an average of around 50 yards per game in receiving yards.

Revis plans to practice with former Pats teammates

Darrelle Revis may be a Jet again, but his time with the Patriots, or with his former teammates we should say, isn't completely over.

Revis worked out with his fellow defensive backs in Arizona last year prior to their Super Bowl run, and the six-time Pro Bowler has decided to keep the tradition going. According to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Revis will meet up with Devin McCourty, Logan Ryan and Tavon Wilson once again in the coming weeks to help prepare for training camp.

McCourty told Reiss the crew will get together July 12 for workouts, which will be run by renowned defensive backs trainer Will Sullivan.

Jets do the tampering charge thing against Patriots

Earlier this year, the New England Patriots filed tampering charges against the New York Jets regarding comments made by Jets owner Woody Johnson. In December, Johnson publicly expressed interest in cornerback Darrelle Revis, who was under contract with the Patriots at the time.

Now that Revis is back with the Jets, Gang Green has fired back with a charge of their own.

According to Pro Football Talk (and confirmed by multiple media outlets), the Jets have filed tampering charges against the Patriots regarding comments Patriots owner Robert Kraft recently made about... you guessed it... Revis.

Let the fun begin. (An in late-March, nonetheless).

Rex: Revis to Jets 'probably good for his legacy'

Rex Ryan spent a half-decade as cornerback Darrelle Revis' biggest cheerleader, and Ryan thinks that Revis is back where he belongs... even if Ryan himself is no longer there.

“He’s a great player, he won a Super Bowl with New England, but he’s a Jet," the Buffalo Bills coach--formerly of the Jets--recently told the NY Daily News. "He got drafted a Jet. It’s probably good for his legacy he goes back to New York.”

Revis was one of the most beloved players of all time among the Gang Green faithful until a somewhat iffy breakup two years ago, which was followed by the All-World corner going to the Jets' rival--making him maybe the most hated.

All seems to be back to par, however, and Revis' biggest fan apparently thinks so, too.

Revis won't be hurting for money any time soon

Cornerback Darrelle Revis insists his return to the New York Jets wasn't all about the money.

That could very well be so, but the money isn't a problem either way.

NJ.com gave a simple but explanatory breakdown of Revis' new contract with Gang Green, which includes $39 million in guaranteed money, a maximum length of five years and a maximum value of $70 million.

He's still arguably the best cornerback in the NFL, and he continues to be paid that way. It's what the market bears, and that's just fine and dandy for the Jets, who had the cap space to spend.

Revis gets wish, Jets pair him with Cromartie

After Darrelle Revis signed on the dotted line with the New York Jets Wednesday night, his next task was to get in touch with fellow cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

“I am going to get in contact with him hopefully very soon here and try to convince him to hopefully come back and join our Batman and Robin tandem that we had a couple years ago,” Revis said, via the NY Daily News.

Turns out, it didn't take much convincing.
And all of a sudden, the pair is back in the Big Apple and poised to man a secondary that had been in dire need of help. What's more, the Jets inked former Cleveland Browns corner Busker Skrine, and Dee Milliner, the No. 1 corner just days ago, is now by default fourth on the depth chart.

McCourty: Revis 'back where he really wanted to be'

Cornerback Darrelle Revis had a good run--check that, a great run--with the New England Patriots last season... Super Bowl and all.

But the All-World defensive back returned to the New York Jets, the team with which he's spent most of his illustrious career, on a blockbuster deal this week.

Patriots safety Devin McCourty has no hard feelings. After all, according to him, Revis is back home.

“I’m happy for him,” McCourty told NJ.com Wednesday. “I think a lot of people label him as chasing money, but I think he got a chance to be back to where he really wanted to be.

"From talking to him throughout this year, I don’t think he ever really wanted to be out of New York. I think now it will give him an opportunity to be back playing in New York and back where he got drafted."

RPT: CB Revis back with Gang Green on huge deal

Well, things have officially gotten interesting in the AFC East.

Only weeks removed from a Super Bowl victory with the New England Patriots, star cornerback Darrell Revis is heading back to the New York Jets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal, according to Manish Mehta of the Daily News, is worth $70 million over five years, with $39 million of that deal guaranteed.

Revis' agent tweeted this photo of the defensive back just minutes after the news broke, saying, "Finally got it done!!! @Revis24 is coming home!!! #RevisIsland #NYJets."

After New England declined to pick up the 29-year-old's 2015 option, it seemed to be a two-team battle to sign the six-time Pro Bowler, as the Patriots worked to renegotiate. A last-ditch effort by Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills was unsuccessful as well, who are tight on cap space after their big deal for running back LeSean McCoy.

Gang Green inks CB Skrine to four-year deal

It was well known the New York Jets were in the market for free agent cornerbacks, and they landed one in the opening minutes of the free agency period Tuesday.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Gang Green reached an agreement with 25-year-old former Brown Buster Skrine, a deal which ESPN's Rich Cimini reported is worth $25 million, with $13 million in guarantees, over four years.

Some have pinned New York as a favorite to land prized free agent cornerback Darrelle Revis, and the team is reportedly in the running to sign Antonio Cromartie — both of whom are former Jets.

If either (or both) happens, first-year head coach Todd Bowles will have two solid veterans on the outside to frame his defense, a unit that could certainly use the help after allowing more than 250 yards per game through the air last season.

Revis expresses respect for both QBs in Super Bowl

Sunday's Super Bowl matchup features two of the most respected quarterbacks in the game. At least Darrelle Revis thinks so.

Revis, who's appearing in the first championship game of his illustrious career, had nothing but praise for Patriots' leader, Tom Brady, who leads QBs in basically every postseason category. Speaking with reporters Thursday, Revis compared the veteran to the likes of Michael Jordan when it came to his competitive nature.

The corner threw in some accolades for his opponents' signal-caller, as well, calling his style of play "impressive."

"He's very dangerous, he's one of the best scramblers in the NFL," Revis said. "He extends plays. When you watch film on him, you see plays from eight to 10 seconds. He's scrambling, he's running around trying to make a play.

"I think that's one of the biggest things about him, he tries to make, not the perfect play, but he just tries to make a play for his team. It's impressive, the fight he has for his team as a quarterback."

Darrelle Revis to Jets fans: 'It's not really my fault'

This Sunday, New York Jets fans get to watch their once-beloved (now-loathed) All-World cornerback Darrelle Revis go to battle with the rival New England Patriots for a shot at a Super Bowl title.

That comes just two years after his divorce with New York via a contract dispute that seemingly spanned a half-decade. So what does Revis have to say to the Gang Green faithful? Sorry, dudes.

"œIt'€™s not really my fault," Revis said Tuesday, via WEEI. "I didn’€™t make the call. Management made the call at that time and they felt it was best to get rid of me. So that's the situation. That's how I look at it."

Patriots' Darrelle Revis 'humbled' by MVP chatter

BY DAVID HEIM

Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, DeMarco Murray and J.J. Watt all have one thing in common. The four of them will all most likely receive votes for this year’s league MVP award.

And rightfully so.

Rodgers’ 35-to-five touchdown-to-interception ratio is best in the league. Brady’s resurgence after the Week four loss to Kansas City has been unmatched by anyone else in the league. Murray leads all running backs by a mile with 1,687 rushing yards, and Watt’s five touchdowns is the most by a defensive lineman since 1944.

Revis: Jarvis Landry 'somebody we need to focus on'

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

When the New England Patriots line up against Dolphins Sunday, it'll likely be cornerback Darrelle Revis opposite Miami's Mike Wallace, a battle of No. 1's on the outside.

That doesn't mean he won't have an eye on the slot, specifically on rookie wideout Jarvis Landry.

The 22-year-old Landry has seen a decent amount of work in this, his first year in the league. He's received the second-most targets on the team behind Wallace (82), and he has the second-most receiving touchdowns (5).
