Upon signing with the New York Jets in March, quarterback Michael Vick made it clear his beloved No. 7 belonged to the incumbent Geno Smith.
Since then, it was all about picking another digit.
Vick has finally settled on No. 8, as he hinted at Monday via social media and as confirmed by the team Thursday. It will be a different sight, as Vick has donned No. 7 since high school -- throughout his collegiate career and through 11 NFL seasons.
The last Jets quarterback to wear No. 8 was Mark Brunell, who backed up Mark Sanchez for a couple seasons.
