Jets' top two rookies get dinged up over the weekend

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Being a rookie hurts sometimes.

The New York Jets' two most important first-year players are learning just that, as first round safety Calvin Pryor and second round tight end Jace Amaro both sustained injuries over the weekend.

According to the NY Post, Jets coach Rex Ryan confirmed Sunday Pryor suffered a concussion the day before and will sit until he goes through league protocol.

“It’s out of your hands as a coach,” Ryan said. “In a way, that’s a good thing because it’s not like you’re going to force the issue and have a guy get out there when it’s not in his best interests.”

Amaro, meanwhile, tweaked his knee. Officially, Ryan said it's being tagged "tendonitis." Both Ryan and Amaro expect the Texas Tech product back on the field when the team returns to practice Tuesday.

"It's going to be fine," Amaro told ESPN New York. "I don't think there's anything to worry about."
