After win, Patriots 'subdued' with loss of Mayo, Ridley

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The New England Patriots came away with a big win over the rival Buffalo Bills Sunday, but it didn't come without a couple big losses.

Linebacker Jerod Mayo and running back Stevan Ridley left the stadium on crutches after sustaining  apparent long-term injuries.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss reported the mood in the locker room regarding the pair of starters was "subdued" and that coach Bill Belichick's message to the team after the game was that the Patriots "won this one for Jerod Mayo and Stevan Ridley."

Ridley will have an MRI Monday for what may be a torn ACL. He left the game in the third quarter after Mayo was carted off the field in the second quarter to a knee injury.

The Patriots have a short week ahead before hosting the reeling New York Jets Thursday.
